Well, as your official representative at KSU’s newly founded Student Council -golf claps, everyone- I and our benevolent institution owe it to you, my fellow students at the College of Languages and Translation, to listen and heed to your suggestions and then convey them to the big shots!

Soon, I will be generating a list with our top priorities and before no time, ye shall ask and ye shall actually receive! What are you waiting for? Fire up those suggestions, girls!

I am a student in level ten and I think that the college should give us students field work, as the College of Education does.
When I and a few of my fellow students went in search of work, it was diffecult because every place required experience. How can we get jobs when we need experience to begin?
Also, the universiy library is extremely out of date. We need an updated library which serves the students needs. Computers with internet access should also be availabe for the students use.
I hope these requests are taken into consideration.

Your comment made my day! So, in summation, you propose: A) Field work, and B) An all-out refurbishment of the campus’ (sagging) library!
I hear you, sister…loud and clear! What about everyone else? Does everyone else agree that the aforementioned points are priorities? Please, people….break your silence!
Our college should have summer classes for the students who want to finish a little faster, especially since translation is a five year course. The boys seem to have better advantages in this matter, why?
Another important issue is the shortage of staff!! If teachers who are payed by the hour receive their salaries on time (regularly), more teachers may be available for classes; thus, the problem of bad schedules and low staff may be solved.
Also, the college is not a new one, so why is its progress extremely slow. shouldn’t tests be made for advanced students, so that if they pass them they can skip a level or two (instead of waisting a year or more of their lives)? This is done in many universities world wide.

How about those of you who want their masters degree?
I found out that a student can only get it in the same field as the her bachelors. why? I think a person has the right to get the degree of their choice, it is a course of study after all. And its done in many colleges world wide.

I’m a level 6 student.. Umm, I got a number of suggestions.
1st, why can’t we use a dic. in the exam? Isn’t it an essential part of our major?! They used to allow it before, why isn’t it allowed now? I mean we need to know how to use a dic. in critical situations inorder to know how to give the best translation we have, to know how to choose the best word to express what we want in the text. Also, to learn how to avoid ordeals that come along while translating & deal with highly specialised vocab. I want to understand 1 thing, why do we take dic. skills if we don’t even use it ?! Of course we do use it when we do assignments, but.. don’t get me wrong. I’m not calling out for difficult exams & assignments but I’m realistic. When u work in the future you won’t translate a 3rd grade science book! You’ll tranaslate speciallised stuff. Therefore, i think it is really important to use a dic. in the exam. I still don’t know why we can’t & no body would give me an answer that would convince me. I really want to know why. Please tell me if u know the reason.
2nd, we have a wireless network in our building, how come we don’t have access to it? Why do we have to go all the way to the library _ where even our bags are not allowed to enter- when we already have a network in our building? We don’t want compters if that’s the problem. We just want an open network, where at least, we can use our labtops & cellphones to access the internet.
3rd, we really & extremely SHOULD have a library, where dictionaries are available inorder to finish our assignments when we have the time. A study room room would be great, too, don’t u think?
4th, I was really happy when Mrs. Huda said that soon we will be able to learn French along with English, but when will it happen? do u have any idea?
5th, I totally agree with Sumaya, we have to have summer classes & field work as well. Companies nowadays do not hire you unless you have experience.

as our representative you communicate our issues to the administration.. we truly are greatful.
something happened today which triggered my last nerve, I just now found out about a paper I have to fill out and hand in along with a copy of the family book and my passport in order to get my certificate. so, when I asked about the date I’m suppose to hand it in by, I was told that it should have been handed in last semester and that due to the delay I might not get my certificate for another two semesters.
Now correct me if I’m wrong.. dont you think that if every employee writes the date in which she posts a paper, along with her signature, and is required to take it down once its time has passed, the students would take the time to stop and read..!!
But there are papers that have been posted for ages, and no one bothered to take them down.
And, dont you think it would even be better if every teacher told the girls about important things, because not all students take all the required courses in the right time.
We need better order in the system, I’m tired of paying the price for something I was not aware of..
in level nine, I did not know what I was required to do cocerning the project ( the final draft), once I asked Mrs. Huda why they didnt pass out papers which said what we needed to do exactly, she said that there was a paper that should have been passed out and signed by the students.. Could it be possible that I was just absent (by luck) on each important day, and no one told me!! I think thats a little hard to imagine..

In response to Sumayah, I ought to say that I haven’t handled the mentioned paper yet! because I was out of time too. However, It’s out of question that I’ll insist to receive my Graduation Certificate no matter what as they can have all the required info. from our files. If not, it’ll be my pleasure to struggle for it in every MEAN way! Don’t worry SmSm.
